I kept digging and found "camtwist" but that also relies on syphon.ĭoes anyone know a solution to this problem? I have a new macbook pro 16" (not my editing system ) that is catalina. I also have my editing system which is a 2014 imac 32 GBs ram 4GB vram that my avid system runs on. So both machines give me no route to get this to work. I found NDI software, NDI Tools NDI.tv website and was confused by it. goal is to have my avid output+desktop views+another webcam to show me while we work. any ideas? I just keep hitting a wall on getting this to work. I currently only have an ANCIENT PC laptop that wont help with working with video. Only thing I came across (but was highly advised AGAINST) was disabling "sip" which would allow syphon to work. Open QuickTime to create a "New Screen Recording" setting the microphone option to Built-in.UHG!! I don't know why OBS doens't just have being a virtual camera as an option built in already.Go back to System Preferences and change the Sound Output to the new Multi-Output Device.Open Audio MIDI Setup (Applications > Utilities), and create a Multi-Output Device, adding the headset with Built-in Output. To listen through the headset while you screen record, there are a few more steps. Open System Preferences, set the Sound Output to USB, and Input to the Microphone port. And the other end of the audio cable into the microphone.Plug the audio cable into the computer. This works even if you only have one audio port on your computer. To screen record WITH internal audio AND microphone voice over using QuickTime on a Mac (without downloading additional software) you will need a USB microphone and a Bluetooth headset + mic'd audio cable. You shouldn't need to download any additional software all that's required is QuickTime, System Preferences, and Audio MIDI Setup (Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup, for the Multi-Output + Bluetooth headset). Many people seem to struggle with the setup. I haven't used it since the early days, when it was tough to set up but easy to work with once you had. One essential part is missing compared to early versions, Soundflowerbed, which was the vital routing component. It's now back in the hands of its original creator, Matt Ingalls. It was passed around between new owners for some time - initially Cycling '74, then Rogue Amoeba took a caretaker role for a while. Soundflower used to be the go-to routing app for OS X but got less reliable over time. MacOS system extension that allows applications to pass audio to other >applications. All audio coming in the CABLE input is simply forwarded to the CABLE output.īlackHole is an open source virtual audio driver that allows applications to pass audio to other applications with zero additional latency. VB-CABLE is a virtual audio device working as virtual audio cable. New to macOS, has been around a while on Windows. This new-and-improved audio driver replaces Soundflower and provides a bunch of new features and improvements in order to make recording audio more stable and easy to do. IShowU Audio Capture is an extension to OS X used by iShowU Studio and iShowU Instant to record audio from your computer. They're mainly freeware/shareware/donationware Also check out Audio Hijack and SoundSourceĪll below are ones I'm aware of but haven't used. To make this list more comprehensive, Rogue Amoeba make several routing apps for slightly different purposes. Loopback - expensive for a one-trick pony, but like all things from Rogue Amoeba, it "just works". My personal favourite & the only one I really use these days is… I haven't used all of these, so I can't list them in any kind of 'best' order. You're going to have to install something, macOS can't do this on its own - in fact, as far as I'm aware, no OS can do this on its own they all need some kind of routing utility.
